Starting with our transition to the MacDonald Realty's new Downtown office, the Ian Watt Team has decided to go Green! Ian Watt and Macdonald Realty now offer our clients the ability to make all of their real estate transactions earth friendly.

First, Macdonald Realty pays to offset the car emissions released by their agents in the course of business through a program called MacGreen. Our partner, Offsetters Carbon Neutral Society, uses these funds to invest in carbon-reducing initiatives both in Canada and abroad. Second, we are discontinuing our "Just Sold" unaddressed flyers and sending all of our "Just Listed" flyers via email to those who sign up and are interested in our service.

Part of going green means that all of our documents are now scanned and emailed.  Although a 100% paperless office would be ideal, we still need some ink on the contracts to make it legal. Therefore, except for our contracts, feature sheets, our newsletter, thank you cards, and business cards, we are proudly going paperless. No longer will you see our "Successfully Sold" flyers in the bottom of the basket in the mailroom recycle bins.

Imagine this:  in 2006, there were 35,000 real estate sales in Greater Vancouver - each with potentially two realtors involved (a buying side realtor and a selling side realtor).  If each realtor sent out a "Just Sold" unaddressed junkmail flyer to the neighbourhood, that would mean 35,000,000 pieces of wasted paper - and this doesn't even include the "Just Listed" mailers!
